State Policy Efforts

The Iowa Food Bank Association directs policy and advocacy work on behalf of the seven Feeding America Food Banks that provide food to more than 1,000 emergency feeding organizations and almost 360,540 hungry children, adults, and seniors in the state. We believe that, through an effective public-private partnership, that we may alleviate hunger.
 
We've given more than 150 postcards with handwritten personal stories were delivered to our state legislators. We were honored to take the voice of hungry Iowans directly to our leaders. 
 
The postcards were eye-opening. They were powerful. While appreciating all of the programs and food from the food bank network and its staff and volunteers, the authors of the postcards made it clear that additional support is needed. We recieved great feedback from legislators; as one said, "the postcards are very powerful and sadly point out the great need". Scroll down to read two of the stories.
